OTTOSSON Filip
Dr. Filip Ottosson is Assistant Professor at Aalborg University and Head of the Metabolomics Research Group at the Center for Molecular Prediction of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (PREDICT). His research focuses on using metabolomics, multi-omics integration and clinical epidemiology to understand the biology of inflammatory bowel disease.
His research career began at Lund University, where his PhD and postdoctoral work focused on metabolomics, cardiometabolic disease and the development of analytical approaches for large-scale population studies. He subsequently joined Statens Serum Institut, where he led research investigating the neonatal metabolome and its relationship with early-life disease development.
At Aalborg University, Dr. Ottosson leads research using large-scale clinical and population-based cohorts to identify biomarkers and biological pathways underlying IBD and its progression. His current work also investigates the molecular links between chronic intestinal inflammation and cardiometabolic disease, with a particular focus on understanding the mechanisms underlying the increased cardiovascular risk associated with IBD.
