Title to be confirmed.
BIOGRAPHY:
Prof. Yves Briers leads the Laboratory of Applied Biotechnology (L.A.B.) at Ghent University, working at the interface of protein science, molecular microbiology, and synthetic biology. His research group develops phage-inspired antibacterial solutions such as lysins, depolymerases, and engineered phages, with several innovations spun off into startups including Lysando, Novalysin, and Obulytix. He co-founded the Belgian Society for Viruses of Microbes (BSVoM), which fosters interdisciplinary collaboration based on the triple helix model. Under his leadership, the Belgian Phage Valley initiative (phagevalley.com) was launched, positioning Belgium as a global hub for phage-based innovation.
